Manage by stages: This PRINCE2 principle explains that projects should be planned, monitored and controlled at every stage.
Manage by exception: This PRINCE2 principle implies that; for somebody to whom some responsibilities have been delegated, a defined tolerance level has to be reached before they can escalate to the next level of authority.
Tailor to suit the project environment: The PRINCE2 method is a generic project management method that is applicable to any project no matter the size, complexity, risk and so on.

PRINCE2 themes are the aspects of projects management that should be taken into consideration throughout the life of the project. The following are the seven PRINCE2 themes:

No prerequisite is required to sit the PRINCE2 Foundation exam.

The objective of the PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification is to ensure that you have adequate understanding of how to adapt PRINCE2 method to a particular scenario. A PRINCE2 Practitioner should be able to apply the PRINCE2 methods to real-life situations.

Objective testing
Eight questions; 10 question items per question, each worth one mark
A minimum of 44 marks out of 80 is required to pass (55%)
The duration of the exam is two and a half hours (150 minutes)
Candidates are allowed to sit Practitioner exam with PRINCE2 official manual (Open-book exam)
PRINCE2 Practitioner Prerequisite

In order to be eligible to sit the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam, candidates must have passed the PRINCE2 Foundation exam or PMP exam.

This is the course after the PRINCE2 Practitioner level. The aim of PRINCE2 Professional course is to ensure that professionals who are PRINCE2 Practitioners can manage PRINCE2 project across all project lifecycle.

PRINCE2 Professional Exam format

• Course is conducted in a residential Assessment Centre
• Course includes group activities and exercises
• The course is based on project case study
• Course assessment is against 19 individual performance criteria
• No written examination for the certification

All PRINCE2 Practitioners are required to re-register within three to five years after their Practitioner certification. The aim of this PRINCE2 course is to ensure that project managers (PRINCE2 Practitioners) are committed to continual professional development and to update their knowledge.

The PRINCE2 Practitioner Re-Registration exam is based on the same syllabus as PRINCE2 Practitioner exam. However, the duration for the Re-registration exam is just one hour.

PRINCE2 Practitioner Re-Registration Exam format

Objective testing
Three question; 10 items per question and each question is worth one mark
For a candidate to pass, he/she needs to score a minimum of 17 marks out of 30
The time allowed for the exam is one hour
Candidates are allowed to sit exam with their official PRINCE2 manual only (open book exam)

For a candidate to be eligible to sit the Practitioner exam, he/she must have passed the Foundation examination or other related professional courses like PMP course. However the two exams (PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner) can be taken the same day.

Please note that if you pass the PRINCE2 foundation exam only, you will be given the foundation certificate. Meanwhile, if you pass both exams (foundation and practitioner) on the same day, you will only receive the PRINCE2 Practitioner certificate.
